In the field of small machinery and experimental equipment, the reliability of the power supply chain depends on its weakest link. Recently, Mingching Company collaborated with a Spanish client to provide customized power solutions for compact equipment. This project highlighted why custom-length power cables are often the unsung heroes in efficient industrial design. By focusing on specific environmental and mechanical requirements - such as current-carrying capacity and the durability of connectors - we provided a dual-core power cable solution, ensuring safety and performance.

The Anatomy of a Reliable Connection
For this application, the device requires a direct current (DC) power input and the positive and negative leads need to be clearly distinguished. We have employed a standard but crucial color-coding system: Red for positive and Black for negative . This simple visual cue significantly reduces the risk of wiring errors during installation or maintenance, ensuring that Spanish technicians can connect the power supply quickly and accurately every time.
The cable itself is selected based on the customer's requirements for specific current ratings and elasticity. Considering that small equipment in the workshop may be exposed to various conditions, we ensure that the final assembly can withstand from -20°C to 80°C. This wide thermal tolerance guarantees that the insulation remains flexible in cold environments and resistant to heat near motor drives or power supplies .
Connector Customization: Speed vs. Security
What made this project unique was the hybrid requirement for the connectors on either end of the assembly. We integrated a yellow quick-connect terminal on one end. Quick-connect terminals, often recognized by their blade and receptacle design, are invaluable in applications where components need to be swapped out or disconnected frequently for maintenance. Their design allows for "self-wiping" action, which helps keep the contact surfaces clean during repeated mating cycles .
On the other hand, we installed a grey latch-type connector. Unlike the quick-connect side, this connector is designed for semi-permanent, shock-proof connections. The latch mechanism ensures that once the connection is successful, the power supply will remain stable and will not accidentally disconnect due to colliding with the machine or pulling on the wires. This dual connector design provides the best option for end users: it offers the flexibility of a detachable interface while maintaining the reliability of a fixed power supply.
Small Batch, Big Impact
The key factors for winning the trust of this Spanish client are not only the technical specifications, but also the logistics of the procurement process. In Europe, many small-to-medium enterprises struggle to find suppliers willing to handle small batch orders. Large manufacturers usually set relatively high minimum order quantities (MOQ), which forces customers to either purchase large quantities of products or invest a significant amount of money in building up excessive inventory.
Mingching is capable of operating with low minimum order quantities, which enables this client to test new configurations without incurring financial risks. By offering flexible production, we have helped them avoid the delivery time issues associated with overseas bulk shipping. We provided a custom-length power harness designed to tidy up their equipment housing-long enough to reach the power source but short enough to avoid messy cable loops.
This collaboration highlights a simple fact in the electronics industry: standard products often cannot solve specific problems. Whether it's using red and black insulating layers to distinguish polarity, or choosing materials that can maintain performance in extreme temperatures, or combining fast-connecting terminals with snap-lock connectors, Mingcheng can provide the flexibility needed by modern equipment manufacturers. By supporting small-batch, custom-length projects, we enable enterprises in Spain and other regions to manufacture safer and more reliable equipment.
