In the Industry 4.0 workshops of Germany, robotic arms operate around the clock performing precision tasks-welding, assembly, material handling. Every joint rotation and every telescopic movement requires real-time coordination between sensors and control systems. The cables connecting these dynamic components must maintain stable signal and power transmission through repeated extension and retraction-and that is precisely the core mission of the coiled spring sensor cable.

Mingching (a custom cable factory based in Shenzhen) recently partnered with a German client to develop a dedicated coiled spring sensor cable for their automated robotic arm equipment. The application scenario is highly representative: robotic arms extend and retract frequently at high speeds. The cable must not only withstand repeated mechanical stress from stretching, but also resist strong electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by frequency converters, servo motors, and other equipment in the workshop, while adapting to a wide temperature range from freezing winters to production-line heat.

To meet these demanding requirements, Mingching addressed three critical areas:

Coiled Spring Structure with Wear-Resistant Design - The cable features a spiral spring structure that freely extends and automatically retracts as the equipment moves. The outer jacket is made of high-abrasion-resistant material, effectively resisting friction wear from repeated stretching and preventing conductor fatigue fracture. This design ensures the cable "moves with the machine without damage" through every cycle of the robotic arm.

Double-Shielded Construction - A "Two-Layer Defense" Against EMI - Industrial environments are saturated with electromagnetic noise, and ordinary cables are highly susceptible to interference that can distort sensor signals. Mingching employs a double-shielded structure: an inner aluminum foil shield reflects high-frequency electromagnetic waves, while an outer tinned copper wire braid absorbs and drains residual interference. Working together, the two layers can achieve electromagnetic attenuation exceeding 85dB@1GHz, ensuring sensor signals remain stable and clean even during high-speed robotic arm operation.

Wide Temperature Range and Nickel-Plated Terminals - Withstanding Both Cold and Heat - The cable operates across a temperature range of -40℃ to 120℃-remaining flexible without brittleness in freezing winter startups and maintaining insulation integrity under high-production heat loads. The connector terminals are made of nickel-plated copper; the nickel plating effectively resists oxidation and corrosion, maintaining low contact resistance through repeated plugging and stretching to ensure long-term reliable signal and power transmission.

TÜV Certification - The "Passport" to German Quality Standards - One of the key reasons the client chose Mingching was the product's TÜV certification. As early as 2016, TÜV Rheinland published the world's first third-party standard for robot cables, 2PfG 2577, which systematically specifies requirements for mechanical performance, electrical properties, and cable flexibility. TÜV certification confirms that the cable meets internationally recognized high standards in critical metrics such as flex life, torsional resistance, and oil/abrasion resistance-while also providing quality assurance and delivery alignment for the client's automated production line.

At Mingching, we understand that behind every coiled spring cable lies precise control over every critical factor: stretching, shielding, temperature, and certification. From materials to structure, from processes to standards, every detail is engineered to safeguard the precision motion and stable sensing of German robotic arms.
